I like that you still have these videos available, even though you produced them long time ago. You are the best teacher of Inventor in my opinion. I just started back on a job using Inventor, and I forget how to do some of these very important settings. Once I set things where they need to be, I mainly focus on the modeling part. The problem with placing bolts and nuts with, with the automation is when you save close and open the file again it can't find the bolts because it is not in the project folder. It's in the content center.

autodesk guides in text are so freaking bad its actually insane how wrong they are.

In the industry we use Techviz / ICIDO / VRed / Unity depending of the use cases 😉

I have been using an AMD system for a few years now that I built. Currently a 7700x and a 7900XTX.. Have had absolutely zero issues with anything ive done with any of the Autodesk products. I think the pro stuff is severely over marketed.

I've been using Inventor for 23 years and every time I have attempted to use the Engineer's notebook, I've found it extremely annoying and buggy. Annoying mainly because the little yellow notes either show up in front of your model space and clutter up the picture, OR if you take the time to figure out how to turn them off, then you forevermore CAN'T FIND the notes you made because they don't show up in the browser the way Autodesk says they should. Seems like Autodesk threw this tool in and never really tested it.

I had one of their mini cameras, glad you've called them out, too many shills for this firm. My mini camera would turn itself on randomly and shout chinese at me through the speaker. No good for a bloody security camera. The software crashed 9 time out of 10. I had to break it open to disconnect the battery in the end. Did my head in!! 160 quid on cameras wasted! Wish I'd seen this before I bought it all.

I agree with you that ultimately that Autodesk wishes to move to the cloud, but not for the reason of eliminating .exe or any file but for profit. The current speed of the internet especially in Australia having any 3d software running in the cloud would be aset back.

I have followed along step by step with this tutorial and have added my custom profiles to frame generator, but when creating the drawing the parts list is giving me the combined length, but I do need the idividual cut lengths and quantities, please could you explain to me how to change this as I cannot for the life of me figure it out, I keep getting *varies* in the "base qty, unit qty and G_L* and the "item qty" is wrong too.

Excellent explanation! I'm a one-man-band and recently bought a gaming laptop, I assume the risk (and the noise) but your point is very well sustained and I respect it for that, and (asap) I will separate gaming (machine) from working (machine).

I received the WD19 for FREE, (accidentally, but maybe on purpose), I was provide a laptop during Covid for 50/50 Telework. I also was provide with the dock and two monitors, when everything was starting to slow and most employees returned to work, I returned the laptop and monitors, but did not return the dock, I left it on my desk at home, I had plan to turn it in later. Then I resigned (Covid Mandate). Well, I have found it very useful with my Alienware 17 R4 with my two monitors that I have connected to my old Desktop (GEN 4 CPU and GTX 970), so if I have game that I can on run on the 970, I run on the 1060 and the dock works great.

In IT we work mostly remote and need power none the less. Dell and HP offer rental laptops/pcs, and if we need more power, we just get a new set of 100 laptops as an example. No need to buy/sell, always the most power available, and no stress if something breaks. We use Dell and are very happy. Allthough our boss cheaps out on ram all the time...

@Neil3D If I have a 1/2" thick end panel Carbon Steel sheet with SEVERAL 4.75" O.D. Holes cut in it that is part of the equipment and I want it in the wire frame while i'm using the frame generator. Can I extrude the end sheets to what I need during the sketch process and when finished still run the frame generator and it show the end sheets extruded without it weirding anything out?

I knew most of this but grate video picked up a few tips. What bugs me is when you place a bolt, washer or nut into your assembly and save it, next time you open it, it can't find the bolts and nuts. You have to when placing the bolt escape placing it in the hole so it brings up the change size dialog, then click the box for custom part. then select the size and insert the bolt like a part then you still have to place the bolt in the whole. Why can't inventor not just save bolts and nut to the project folder. You loose the intelligent placing of the bolt and nuts when you have to do it this way. And if you don't want error messages of bolts not found when you open an assembly.
